University of Edinburgh Global Online Learning Masters Scholarships in the UK for 2022/2023

For its own distant learning programs, the University of Edinburgh will be awarding 12 Global Online Learning Masters Scholarships.

In Edinburgh, Scotland, there is a public research institution called the University of Edinburgh. The university, one of Scotland’s four ancient universities, was granted a royal charter by King James VI in 1582 and was formally inaugurated in 1583. It is also the sixth-oldest institution still in existence in the English-speaking world. The University of Edinburgh is a member of several associations of research-intensive universities, including the Coimbra Group, League of European Research Universities, Russell Group, Una Europa, and others. The university played a crucial role in Edinburgh becoming a leading intellectual center during the Scottish Enlightenment and contributed to the city earning the moniker “Athens of the North.”

Additionally, the university has the third-largest endowment in the UK, behind Cambridge and Oxford, with a total income of £1,175.6 million for the fiscal year that ended on July 31, 2021, of which £324.0 million came from research grants and contracts. The university also includes five main campuses in Edinburgh, several of which have significant historical and architectural structures like those in the Old Town.

By volume of applicants, Edinburgh is the second-most prestigious institution in the UK, receiving more than 60,000 undergraduate applications each year. With 35,375 students enrolled in 2019–20, the university is the eighth-largest university in the UK.

Among British universities for new entrants in 2019, the University of Edinburgh had the seventh-highest average UCAS points. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who served as chancellor from 1953 to 2010, and Anne, Princess Royal, who has served as chancellor since March 2011, both maintain the university’s ties to the British royal family.

In addition, a few of the most significant figures in modern history are among the university’s alumni. In addition to writers like Sir J. M. Barrie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sir Walter Scott, and Robert Louis Stevenson, notable individuals who studied at Edinburgh include inventor Alexander Graham Bell, naturalist Charles Darwin, philosopher David Hume, and physicist James Clerk Maxwell. Several heads of state and government, including three British Prime Ministers, are among the university’s alumni. The university also educated three UK Supreme Court Justices as well as countless Olympic gold medalists. As of October 2021, Edinburgh had alumni or academic personnel that included 19 Nobel Prize laureates, three Turing Award winners, two Pulitzer Prize winners, an Abel Prize winner, and a Fields Medalist.

Each scholarship will pay for all tuition costs and be upheld for the standard length of the study program.
