The Greater Western area of Sydney, Australia is home to Western Sydney University, originally known as the University of Western Sydney.
The university was founded in 1989 as a federated network university through the merger of the Hawkesbury Agricultural College and the Nepean College of Advanced Education.
The university merged with the Macarthur Institute of Higher Education in 1989. In 2001, the University of Western Sydney changed its organizational structure from a federation to a single institution with many campuses.

- Be either an indigenous or foreign students
- Possess an unconditional admissions offer, or be enrolled full- or part-time in the School of Physics at the University of Sydney’s Physics Honours program.
- Have completed your undergraduate studies with a Distinction average, or the equivalent.
